Gold Dragon Electric Vehicle Technology Training Class Kicks Off in Africa
On June 4, 2024, a training class on electric vehicle and energy storage technology for African countries, initiated by the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization and jointly organized with the Chinese Mission to the African Union, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the Association of African Electricity Utilities, officially commenced. Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Gold Dragon”), as a leading company in China’s public transportation industry, was invited to the first training session in 2024 to provide African governments and industries related to electric vehicles and energy storage with practical feasibility analysis methods, training courses, and the compilation of appropriate analysis reports on the development of the electric vehicle industry, helping African countries achieve shared development among their people and promote a integrated, prosperous, and peaceful African continent.
The training lasts for 6 days and covers electric vehicle charging infrastructure construction and operation, electric vehicle standards and development experience, energy storage industry policies and project investment and financing experience, aiming to accelerate the construction of the African Energy Internet, promote the elimination of electricity-free populations in Africa, and advance electrification, industrialization, and sustainable development. Nearly 200 participants from energy and electricity departments, power companies, universities, and research institutions in 25 African countries including Côte d’Ivoire, South Africa, and Ghana attended the training.
On the afternoon of June 6, Luo Senmo, Manager of Global Application Engineering Department of Gold Dragon, conducted online lectures for the trainees, covering two topics: adaptability analysis and planning technology of electric public transportation systems, and analysis of the electric public transportation vehicle industry chain. Through the vivid explanation of Gold Dragon’s export cases, using the Ethiopia KD project as an example, new ideas for the development of electric public transportation in African countries were provided.

Such training courses are in line with Gold Dragon’s export philosophy of “teaching a man to fish rather than giving him a fish.” In recent years, China’s electric vehicle and related energy storage technologies have made great strides, and China has formed an industry chain for electric vehicle energy storage batteries, drive motors, core control technology, as well as an industry chain for the research, development, production, and application of energy storage batteries. Against this backdrop, Gold Dragon actively promotes KD business overseas, setting up factories locally and providing a large number of employment opportunities. At the same time, Gold Dragon also establishes technical training schools locally to help train qualified vehicle engineers.
As a Chinese enterprise, Gold Dragon not only regards the export destination countries as markets but also helps local communities realize their own industrialization dreams more deeply. Similarly, against the backdrop of promoting economic and social development in Africa, the industrial sector on the African continent urgently needs development, creating employment opportunities for the growing young population. African countries also need to consider environmental protection issues in their development process to achieve a harmonious coexistence between people and nature. Gold Dragon is willing to contribute its own strength to accelerate the development of the electric vehicle and energy storage industry in Africa.
