250 Higer 8.5-Meter Pure Electric Buses Delivered to Chongqing!
Chongqing Public Transport has made its first attempt at adopting “zero rear overhang” buses with the delivery of 250 Higer 8.5-meter pure electric buses.
In collaboration with Suzhou King Long, Chongqing Public Transport has extended its integrated transportation service network and has purchased nearly 1,700 buses from Suzhou King Long to date!
Chongqing Public Transport continues to innovate its service model, unlocking new transportation experiences through the “Bus + N” strategy. This approach integrates traditional urban buses with sightseeing bus routes, customized buses, “alley buses,” on-demand buses, and market shuttle buses. This multi-dimensional service system caters to various needs, including commuting, schooling, leisure, and entertainment. As of November 2024, Chongqing has 791 operating bus routes in its central districts, serving a total of 2.524 billion passengers, with an average daily ridership of 7.534 million.
Promoting Green Mobility and Low-Carbon Transit
Chongqing Public Transport is committed to enhancing green mobility by upgrading its fleet to low-carbon, electric buses. By November 2024, 61.8% of its buses were powered by new energy sources.
Higer Buses, a key partner in Chongqing’s transport upgrades, has provided a diverse fleet, including models from 6 meters to 12 meters in length and powered by clean energy, hybrid systems, and fully electric engines. With nearly 1,400 Higer buses already in operation in central Chongqing, the addition of 250 new 8.5-meter pure electric buses brings the total to approximately 1,700.
Higer’s strong performance in Chongqing’s public tenders can be attributed to its brand reputation, product reliability, and robust after-sales support. These factors, combined with innovative designs and spare parts availability, have earned Higer recognition in the industry.
Innovative Bus Designs and Passenger-Centric Features
Higer’s 6-meter pure electric minibuses and 6.7-meter low-entry buses operate as “alley buses” to enhance urban micro-transit, solving the “last mile” travel challenge for residents.
The Higer sightseeing buses serve as the backbone of popular tourist routes, including the T888 scenic route and T041 night-view bus line, connecting Chongqing’s iconic attractions along the riversides. Particularly, the T002 route, which links Shapingba and Yuzhong districts, features entertainment systems, earning it the nickname “Chongqing’s Bus Benchmark” and making it a trending topic online.
The Latest Addition: 250 Higer KLQ6866 Buses
The newly delivered 250 Higer 8.5-meter pure electric buses are part of Higer’s sixth-generation Azure Series (model KLQ6866). These vehicles introduce a “zero rear overhang” design, significantly increasing interior space utilization. The 8.5-meter model offers the same passenger capacity as traditional 10.5-meter buses, improving both passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
Chongqing Public Transport’s decision to adopt zero rear overhang buses comes as the industry faces rising costs and increasing demand for new energy vehicles. Higer’s innovative design and focus on fuel efficiency ensure strong operational performance while supporting Chongqing’s sustainability goals.
Advancing Urban Transit with Higer Buses
Chongqing’s extensive and distinctive bus network has become an integral part of the city’s culture. Its diverse services address the city's challenging terrain, optimizing travel convenience for residents and tourists.
Higer Buses continues to lead with innovative solutions, delivering premium models tailored to customer needs. As public transportation faces new challenges, Higer remains committed to driving the global transition toward greener, more efficient, and more comfortable urban mobility.
